I love everything about this time of year, with the sun coming out it really makes me feel happy. Around this time I like to use lighter brighter products with gorgeous scents to evoke that summer feeling.

A ran out of my usual body wash, Lush’s It’s Raining Men and thought I’d go for something new and I picked up Dirty Springwash. This shower gel is fresh and soft with a spearmint, and menthol fragrance. Fabulous for your morning shower to make you feel invigorated and energised for the day.

Dirty Springwash contains fine sea seat to exfoliate your skin and thyme oil for antiseptic and disinfectant purposes. If you’re looking for a cool scented body wash to wake up your senses, this is perfect.

Dirty Springwash starts at £4.50.

It’s that time of year, can only mean one thing – MASSIVE Lush Haul

Top Row: No Drought- It’s Raining Men- Ponche – Snow Fairy
Bottom Row: Dragon’s Egg – Lord of Misrule – Luxury Lush Pod – Let the Good Times Roll – Shoot For The Stars – Golden wonder

It’s that time of the year when Lush brings out their Christmas and Halloween items. They usually have a staple of things that come out year upon year and will throw in some new editions to delight us with. I thought I’d venture in to see what was new and to pick up some of my favourites. Hope you like this haul, it’s pretty huge but I hope I can show you something lovely that you might just want to try.

No Drought
This is an alternative to the dry shampoo sprays that you encounter all the time, like a Batiste spray. This dry shampoo is in powder form and can either be shaken directly onto your hair or into the palms of your hands so you can work the product in that way. It has a very pleasant citrus smell and I think this product does the job better than Batiste. This product is £6.75, so more pricey then Batiste and will last 20’s longer. A criticism, potential to over load your hair with this if you’re too heavy handed, leaving hair very white and powdery. This is a permanent product.

It’s Raining Men
This is a gorgeous shower gel with a beautiful honey and vanilla scent. The gel is thick and when activated with water it makes skin so moisturised. If you are familiar with Lush, this scent is the same as their ever famous Honey I Washed The Kids soap. This shower gel starts at £4.50. This is a permanent product.

Ponche
This shower gel is made with orange and tequila. It is said to be inspired by Mexican Christmas punch. It is such an uplifting smell, perfect for your morning shower. Please don’t be put off thinking you’ll come out of the shower smelling like you’ve been out in the town all night, the tequila smell is subtle and it’s really fresh. This product starts at £4.30. This is a Christmas limited edition product.

Snow Fairy
OMG I love this one!!! I get so sad faced when I’ve run out of this product as I have to wait until the end of the year for it to come out again. This is a very fruity shower gel with added sparkles that leaves your skin smelling lovely for hours afterwards. Its really sweet and very girly, so unfortunately not one for your fella. This is Lush’s No.1 best seller at Christmas and a few years ago, stocks used to run out everywhere within days as they didn’t expect it to be so popular. A criticism? Not from me, however, it’s not your usual Lush natural smelling product, it does smell a tiny bit synthetic. This product starts from £3.50.

Front Row:

Dragon’s Egg
This is a massive bath bomb (ballistic) which is white in colour and scented with Bergamot, Lemon Oil and Jasmine for a sensual but fresh bath. Now it may look boring, but don’t be fooled my friends, this bomb whizzes around your bath like a firework changing your bath water many colours in the process, blue, orange, yellow, red…. every so often releasing paper dragon scales and popping candy with a hint of gold shimmer. Definitely a visual treat, just don’t let your bath water run cold by watching in amazement. This bomb is £3.25.

Lord of Misrule
I picked this bomb up simply because of the name, then had a whiff and fell in love with the scent. It’s named after the ruler of the Pagan feast of fools (sounds Lord of the Ringsy), I have never used this bomb before and apparently it turns bath water wine coloured. I bet I’ll feel like a Medieval Queen. This bomb is something quite special as it contains the world’s first ever Fair Trade vanilla absolute, finished with black pepper and Patchouli. This is a seasonal product until Spring, retailing at £3.30.

Luxury Lush Pud
This bomb is bigger and more colourful than it has been previously, it used to look like a traditional Christmas pudding, but this year it’s purple and pink with splashes of yellow and green. This is a calming bath bomb with lavender, orange and gardenia. It’s very sensual and relaxing, perfect forgetting ready for santa on Christmas Eve. This bomb is £3.40.

Let The Good Times Roll
A fresh cleanser for the face and body, with popped corn, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon. It is a beautiful cake-like smell. You break a bit off from the pot and rub it between your hands and it’s activated with water, turning the product into a lovely lather that you scrub your face with, for a gentle exfolation. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and fresh. I have never seen this product before, or even heard of it, but apparently it’s not seasonal any more. This product is £6.35. It’s nice, but not the best facial cleanser Lush have on offer. For something similar, try Oatifix.

Shoot For The Stars
This is another new product to me, and I’m very excited to try this one out. It smells sensational, the best fragrance of all of the bombs I have shown you. This bomb is meant to make your bath look like the night sky. How lovely does that sound? Why do I like this smell??? Bergamot Oil! This is a beautiful oriental fragrance, a fruit best known for flavouring Earl Grey tea. This is also supposed to smell like Honey I Washed The Kids, I’m not convinced myself. This bomb is £3.25.

Golden Wonder
This bomb is different to the others simply due to it’s shape. It is shaped like a traditional present. This bomb is to be enjoyed over a long relaxing bath, as the layers are revealed one by one. This is a special bomb as it releases beautiful silver stars that dissolve. They are also edible, but I wouldn’t risk it, too soapy! This will leave you bath water golden while sweet orange and cognac oils are expelled into the water. This bomb is £3.50. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, it’s very long, but I hope you’ve kept with me and I’ve encouraged you to give one or a few of these products a try before the holiday season comes to an end.

Lush Cleansers – Angels on Bare Skin and Dark Angels

image

Me and Lush go way back, we are like that (crosses fingers). I have used so many products from this store over the years as I love the fact that all of their products are made with natural ingredients and are sourced and produced ethically. I was in there shopping for a friend’s birthday and the lady asked me if I wanted to try something for free. I thought I could get something extra for my good friend but then I thought nah, she’s got enough.

So, I asked for a cleanser sample of Angels on Bare Skin. This cleanser is made with Almonds, Lavender and Rosemary to remove grease, cleanse the face and moisturise. The product is not a cream or a gel, it is like putty and you break it off into pieces and the cleanser is activated with warm water, and then you wash your face as normal. I’m not too keen on the smell to be honest, but it product feels so good when you work it into your skin, making it feel cool and moisturised.

It didn’t dry out my skin, my skin felt soft and it felt like I had a good wash. Perfect for washing off the day’s make up. The beauty of this cleanser is that it can be used daily, it is not harsh on your face . There are bits of Rosemary in the product which makes for a good soft exfoliator.

The second little pot I was given was the Dark Angels cleanser. I was drawn to this one more simply due to the colour. I felt like a child thinking, that will be so fun to wash my face with. The reason for my madness is that the product is black. When you put this on your skin it looks as if you have rubbed coal on it, and that is quite a strange concept to get your head round thinking that this is going to cleanse you.

This product is best suited to someone with oily skin as it contains Rhassoul mud, charcoal and black sugar giving for an invigorating wash. This product is not recommended for daily use. I love the smell, which is sandalwood. After using this product, it felt like I had new skin, I felt like I was glowing. My face felt smooth and really clean.

I like both of these products, I prefer the Dark Angels cleanser but would use Angels on Bare Skin too. They retail in the UK for £6.35 for 100g. I do think the price is worth it simply because of the fantastic natural ingredients and you know exactly what you are putting on your skin, which I think is refreshing. There is a lush in most towns in the UK, but if you don’t have one near you, you can purchase them online for a small delivery charge.
